Q: What do I need to rent a scooter? A: You need a valid driver’s license from your home country, a valid credit card (or $100 cash deposit), and a passport. You must be 18 or over. Q: When do I pay for the rental? A: You pay upon taking the scooter out, adjustments for fuel use or other charges will be made upon return of the scooter. Q: Does the scooter come with insurance? A: 3rd party liability insurance is included, however, this does not cover the cost of the scooter, nor other loses involved with collision, theft, or vandalism. Additional coverage called LDW can be purchased in order to cover you in case of a mishap. Common repair costs are listed on our “Common Repair Costs Chart” Q: What is LDW? A: LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) limits your responsibility in case of accident, theft or vandalism to a $100 deductible. LDW does NOT cover if you violated any of the terms of the contract. Please see our LDW fact sheet for more information. Q: What’s the most I can be on the hook for? A: Maximum $2000, unless you are found to have been impaired while driving, in that case, civil and criminal consequences may result. Insurance does not cover if drug or alcohol impairment is found to have been a factor in the incident. Q: Do I need to wear a helmet? A: Yes, it’s the law. Q: What about gasoline? A: You leave with a full tank, upon returning, you pay according to our fuel policy. Our gasoline charges are similar to market rates. Should you need to travel on unpaved roads, please keep it to a minimum, and take it slow. Q: What if we have a problem with the scooter? A: Call us with the cellphone included in the rental. A: Yeah go ahead, we’ll just charge you for the airtime (.30/minute)! Q: What does the “fine print” on the contract really say? A: Basically the terms on the reverse are as follows: -only renter or the driver identified on the contract can drive the scooter. -you won’t use the scooter for commercial use -you won’t use the scooter to do anything illegal -you’ll follow all traffic laws, and agree to drive in a respectful manner. -you won’t drive drunk or stoned. -we reserve the right to seize the scooter from you without recourse if we observe any of the violations above. -you’ll advise us immediately if you get into an accident or receive a traffic ticket -you are solely and completely responsible for the scooter -you absolve us (AMACO S.A.) of any legal responsibility |
